Between building a business, wrangling my almost-2 and 4-year old, and, you know, actually having a life, things are a little hectic around here.  If you're anything like me, mornings can be the most chaotic part of the day.  While nothing I’m about to say is revolutionary, I thought I’d still share three things that have helped my sanity lately.

  1. Prep the night before: This is a game-changer.  Before bed, I set up my coffee maker, make my son’s school lunch, and sometimes even unload the dishwasher (if I start it right after dinner, it’s done before bed!). Even if it ends up saving maybe 15 minutes, I find it makes a huge difference in how much I am running around vs. just sitting at the breakfast table with my kids.
  1. Blowdry (I know, what) your hair on Monday: I recently learned that blow drying your hair actually absorbs your scalp's oils, which makes your hair less prone to getting greasy. Spending 15 minutes on blow drying my hair is a worthwhile investment, as I can actually get 3 good (and 1 dry-shampoo-and-hair-up) days out of it. Doing this on Monday means I can go until Friday (my most flexible day) with just a quick bodyshower!
  1. Pancakes for days: My kids are picky eaters and have a bunch of food allergies, so figuring out what to have for breakfast can be a challenge. They love pancakes made of just oats, banana, spinach (!), and soy milk - which feels like a major win in the fruit, veggie, and fiber department. My husband or I will make a big batch of these on Sunday or Monday, and we heat them up in the microwave for a quick and filling breakfast.

Probably nothing groundbreaking in there - but these small things have made our mornings a lot smoother!

What are your tips to make the rush between wake up and drop off a little easier? Let me know in the comments!
